    Dear Sir or Madam,

I’ve been looking on your website and I’m contacting you in the hope of obtaining some help in funding the setup of a local Kirk Hallam community youth football team. I’ve been looking through your site and I am wondering if these grants are still a possibility.

I am the club secretary for AFC Kirk Hallam, a well established local adult amateur football team that has been in existence since 1994. In 2013, we successfully added a second team to our club and have teams in the Long Eaton Sunday League Premier Division and Division Two. The next logical step for the continued growth of the club would be to move into youth football, with the aim to give local young people the chance to play football on Saturdays as well as being able to take extra training sessions during the week. Most local junior football clubs only play their matches on Sundays, which leaves a large gap gap on Saturdays which would provide not only more activities for the local community, but also the opportunity for young players to develop and give them a clear path from youth football into adult football if they are not fortunate enough to be picked up by local professional academies. The plan is to start with an under 11’s and under 16’s team for the 2017/2018 season and see how that goes, before expanding further.

The club has recently become an FA Charter Standard adult club, which is a nationally recognised standard and shows that the club is being ran properly. The big stumbling block at this point is the startup costs for the project. Being an adult club, we have never had the need for the required elements for running youth football. These elements include:

    · DBS checks for coaches and volunteers
    · Safeguarding for children courses
    · Welfare officer training
    · Coaching courses for new coaches
    · A new kit, training and matchday equipment, first aid kits

The estimated setup cost for this project is around £1100.

I’m sure you will agree that this is a well worthwhile project.

I look forward to hearing from you.

      Hi Dave

The community chest would be a great way for you to access funding – we give awards unto £1000 – It is open 3 x a year and there is currently one open now – the application form can be found on the website under community chest. It would also be good to meet up with you anyway – I am normally available all day Mondays, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons – let me know what would be good for you
