welcome Alisya

Alisya Hill is the new community development worker based at the Big Kirk Hallam Community Centre

We caught up with Alisya and asked her why she had applied for the role. She said

“When I saw the advert I thought it was the perfect job for me; I love meeting people, making a difference to the community and organising things. I want to make the community centre a thriving environment where people feel comfortable to come in for a chat, try out activities and meet other people.”

Alisya is really keen to meet as many of you as possible so pop along to the community centre to catch up with her.

Both Jsan and Alisya are working through the results of the recent survey about things you wanted to see taking place at the community centre so keep an eye out for new activities being organised in the near future

Big Kirk Hallam Community Centre

Big Kirk Hallam Community Centre

We are really excited to be able to tell you about the plans to transform the Community Hall and old Children’s Centre building into the Big Kirk Hallam Community Centre. As many of you are aware, sadly the Children’s Centre was closed in January as part of the cut backs by Derbyshire County Council.  When the Children’s Centre was originally built, it was agreed by the Council and the Diocese of Derby (who own the land and Hall) that if it should stop being used as a Children’s Centre then the building would revert back to the management of the Community Hall Committee.

We are working with the Management Committee of the Community Hall to progress the project. They have suggested calling the Centre the Big Kirk Hallam Community Centre, which we are very pleased about as it encapsulates the essence of Big Kirk Hallam and will be a lasting legacy for the area.
